There is clearly an environmental crisis. The reliance on energy produced from fossil fuels, the ever-increasing use of chemicals and plastics, rises in genetically modified organisms (GMOs), the depletion of natural resources, pollution, deforestation, soil erosion, loss of biological diversity, overpopulation, climate change, the production of enormous amounts of waste, and insatiable consumption have had devastating effects on the planet and human health.

Mitigating the effects of this crisis means that we need to consider the ecological impact of the decisions we make. Printing is no exception. Although now a smaller portion of overall communication, printing will continue to be a major form of communication for many years to come. How we print is therefore more important than ever.

My commitment to environmentally responsible materials and practices has been a cornerstone of my business for nearly 30 years and you won’t find a print shop with a lower environmental impact. I use the highest post-consumer recycled papers (which are also processed chlorine-free), printing inks that include plant-based oils, the safest pressroom chemicals available, and have multiple environmental certifications from public entities. Being environmentally responsible means continually researching and trying new products & processes in order to minimize the environmental impact of my business. It also means being honest about this impact by using accurate language and refraining from using misleading terms such as “environmentally friendly”, “eco-friendly”, and “carbon-neutral”. I am happy to answer questions, discuss details, and provide documentation for all environmental claims I make.
